Opportunities for Ministry
Sanctuary Choir
The choir serves to support and enhance congregational song in the Sanctuary service from September through May. We sing a wide variety of literature, including traditional and contemporary anthems, responses, descants, and calls to worship. The choir rehearses Wednesday nights from 6:45-8:15 p.m. All singers above high school age are welcome and encouraged to join us. Contact the office at 336.0966.
Project Choir
Periodically, we form a special ensemble to prepare significant music for a special event during festival seasons of the Church. Typically, these project choirs will rehearse weekly for at least two months and hold a limited number of intensive rehearsals. Project choirs offer the wonderful opportunity to sing for those who cannot commit to weekly ministry in the Sanctuary service but yet love to sing in a choir. Watch for announcements in the Times and this web page for more information.
Scripture Readers
We are seeking to build a talented corps of Scripture readers who have the ability to make the Story come alive! Young or old, if you have a flair for dramatic reading and story-telling and are willing to carefully prepare (it is GOD’S WORD, after all!) we would love to have you use your gifts for God’s glory and the congregation. Dramatic coaching is available. We need readers in both the Sanctuary and the Family Life services, but you could limit your participation to one or the other. Contact the office at 336.0966.
Instruments of Praise
We are actively recruiting talented string and wind instruments for periodic ministry in the Sanctuary Service. These players will assist our worship through solos, ensembles, hymns and choral accompaniment. The parts are relatively challenging, so players should possess a least a strong high school ability. Contact the office at 336.0966.
Family Life Service Opportunities
Currently, we are seeking people who desire to serve as musicians in the following roles:
Singers: need to be able to sing in tune, preferably with solo quality and experience as well as possess the ability to harmonize by ear or by reading music.
Band instruments: all contemporary instruments, especially drums.
A simple audition will be required for each person desiring to serve on the music team.
We are also seeking additional team members in the following support ministries:
Sound, PowerPoint, and lighting technicians. We’ll provide the training.
Sacred Space design specialists: fancy name for people who have a knack for color and decorating.
Contact the office if you are interested in serving in any of these ways.
